Cars and Traffic

I hear some distant thunder
And bombs that burst in air
But it’s only morning traffic
And sounds that bring despair.

Unaware such raucous noise
Disturbs those still in bed
Their tires create some music
That was better left unsaid.

Displaced air squeaks in protest
But wheels continue to roll
Leaving lonely echoes
Each mile along the road.

A hiss, a rumble, as
Someone honks a horn
And sleep is gone forever
Unless you’re still unborn.

I hear some distant thunder

And bombs that burst in air
But it’s only morning traffic
And sounds that bring despair.
A hiss, a rumble, as
Someone honks a horn
And sleep is gone forever
Unless you’re still unborn.

Is this one new? I’ve never read or heard it before! I hear a distant thunder! Good poem mom!

    1. No, it isn’t new, but I wrote it in a notebook and forgot about the ones there. I try ‘funny’ sometimes but it doesn’t always work, but I did like this one. Hooray!
