Mother Moon

Soft moon glow fills the dusky night,
Child of mother moon, cold and bright
Cloudless, the sky stretches taut, round
While I, mere earthling, hug the ground.

If I but could, I’d visit you,
Offering secrets wrapped in dew;
I’d ride a moonbeam through the night
And catch a star in sheer delight.

Oh moon, so silver, pale and bright,
Let me your secrets know tonight
And earthling still, I’ll clasp your light
And be transformed in pale moon white.
