Colorado Rockies

Sharp white peaks thrust against an opaque blue
Catching light to brush with intense hue
Jagged crevasses and valleys below
Blanketed with glist’ning snow.
Awesome, austere, deceptive, and cold
They beckon and lure their treasures to hold.
Once given your heart can never be free
Of mountains and valleys and tall pine trees.

Very lovely: a photograph in words!
    Blessings . . .

  2. Your words always paint such stunning images. I love this and can very much relate. I *love* nature, and especially mountains and snow. That’s why I love where I grew up — the crisp, clean mountain air. Great poem. Wonderful rhythm!

    1. Thanks Jessie, I wrote this one to go with a snow scene that my daughter had painted (watercolors). She did such a wonderful job I was inspired. Glad you like it.
